Beginner Groups
If you've never danced before, a weekly dance party is probably the last place you envisioned yourself showing up to take your first steps. And you're not alone. Many prefer to start with private lessons and wait until they look really snazzy to attend practice parties. But let's face it. You're going to have to take the plunge one of these days. Why not go ahead and get the hardest part out of the way? Just jump in!
But jump in knowing that we and our more experienced students are going to be there to help you swim. Every week, before we get started with our practice parties, we offer a beginners group class specifically designed for people who have never taken a rhythmic step in their lives. For forty minutes, you'll learn the basics and a simple pattern for that week's dance. Instructors and fellow learners will be there to offer you personal assistance and help you get off the ground.
Once the beginners class is finished, you'll know at least one dance that you can practice during the party. And if you attend every week, you'll have the opportunity to continue building a basic knowledge of the same dance for as many as five weeks! Now let's not be unrealistic. You're not going become a Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers just by attending a beginners class, but you will become familiar with ballroom basics and will begin to develop the foundational confidence needed for an enduring venture into the world of ballroom.
And guess what, if you still have trouble after attending a couple of beginners classes, see about getting the extra help you need in private lessons. Private lessons will always be there for when you need them, no matter what level of dancing you achieve, but don't let fear of messing up keep you from the most important part of ballroom dancing . . . dancing in a ballroom!
