The IGR Dance Card

The IGR Dance Card is the standard means of paying for paying for group classes at I've Got Rhythm. We require this for a number of different reasons, a few of which are detailed below:

  1. Student Commitment: We form group classes specifically to accomodate student interests. All we ask in return is that our students be committed to attending the classes. Willingness to pay in advance for one's group classes is a good sign that a student will be committed to attending.
  2. Easy Check-in: Making change for up to ten people at the start of a group class wastes teaching time, and we don't always have correct change for the bills our students bring. The Dance Card eliminates these problems with a quick punch.
  3. Theft Resistant: When purchased, a Dance Card is made out to a specific individual. Unless it is signed over to someone else by the original purchaser, only he can use it for entrance into groups, whereas anyone can use a stolen bill.
  4. Portability: Dance Cards never expire and can be used for admission to both group classes and weekly parties, so if your group class folds, and you want to join another one, you can use your current card for admission.*
    * NOTE: If you buy a card at a reduced rate for an additional class, you will owe the per-class difference when using it towards your first group class or weekly parties (E.g. If your first class is $10/class and additional classes are $5/class, you'll owe an extra $5/class when using the card towards your first class)

"But what if I want to pay for group classes on a one-at-a-time basis?" you ask. "Can I just pay as I go?"

Yes, on one condition. Students who are thinking about joining a preexisting group class may find that they have a hard time fitting in or catching up with the group. In these cases, we allow students to "test the waters" for up to two weeks to see if they would like to stay in the class, paying at a per-class rate. By the third week, they must either commit to the class or drop it. Under all other conditions, students are obligated to buy a Dance Card towards attendance of that class, no exceptions.

"I noticed that the picture of the Dance Card and the Party Card look axactly the same. Are these the same thing? What's the difference?"

Dance Cards and Party Cards are the same basic card. They have different names because they have different prices and functions. Dance Cards are intended for primarily group classes, although they can be used for admission to parties as well if desired. Party Cards are sold at a reduced rate and are intended only for weekly parties. Thus they cannot be used towards group class admission. When sold, a card will either be labeled as a Dance Card or Party Card and take on its respective role thereafter until all punches have been used.

The IGR Dance Card makes life a lot easier for all parties, in addition to saving students' valuable dance time, and that's why we use it. If you have any issues with your card that are not addressed here, please let us know.
