Our Story
Waking up at three o'clock in the middle of the night just before another long day of Ph.D. seminars, Bryant found himself perfectly cogent and unable to fall back asleep. An idea which seemed to have come out of nowhere kept stirring in his mind. "How can ballroom dancing be used for the Lord's service?" he asked himself. Then he recalled an interview he'd heard on the radio with a woman whose husband had left both her and their child to pursue all the empty pleasures the world has to offer. Such stories were all to common.
Although he had entertained the idea before, it came at him with conviction that night that he was to use his gift of teaching along with his skill in dance to communicate to couples all the timeless Biblical truths of God's design for marriage, and ballroom dancing would be the perfect medium for the message. He stayed up late into the night discovering and rediscovering the parallels between dance and life, which he would later formalize into a teachable curriculum for couples. The next day he composed his letter of withdrawal from the Ph.D. program and committed to follow God down this most unusual path.
At the time he made his decision to withdraw from Ph.D. work, Bryant had nothing. There was no steady income, there was no hint of interest from anyone in his program, there were no leads on a job that might give him the freedom to pursue his calling, and most problematic, he had no dance partner with whom to pursue it, no wife with whom to model the relationship that God had called him to live out both in life and in dance.
Within the same week, however, Bryant found that Gary was in need of an instructor. Not knowing what to expect, he gave him a call and explained his calling to ministry and to married couples. The match could not have been more perfect. Since that day, God has provided for Bryant's finances, has opened doors to educating married couples through ballroom dancing, and has even brought him a dance partner, who just happens to be his wife.
